For simultaneous interpretation, the hall where the event will take place should be fitted out with specialised equipment which includes: a soundproof booth for each pair of interpreters, in each booth 2 pairs of earphones and a microphone, amplification equipment, the number of microphones necessary for all speakers as well as the necessary quantity of receivers/headphones for those participants who need to hear the interpretation.

Simultaneous interpreters usually work in a booth in pairs,, regularly switching round. This is due to the fact that simultaneous interpretation requires an extremely high level of concentration and the ability to listen, remember and translate what is being said simultaneously while remaining only a few seconds behind the speaker.

Simultaneous interpretation is difficult and intensive work. To ensure interpretation of the highest quality, a client should where possible provide reports/lectures in electronic format or paper copies in advance as well as any other materials on the topic. It is advisable to provide a glossary of any special terms and abbreviations in both languages. This significantly lightens the workload for the interpreter and allows the interpretation to more closely correspond with the original. This is especially important for talks on technical subject matter where a large number of highly specialised terms are used.
